Who We Are

CouponNoona is a small, independent redeem-code site. Despite the “editorial team” framing, it’s honestly a solo project — built, written, and maintained by one person who goes by Yolky online. The pen name comes from the handle yolkyunbound, which I’ve used across GitHub, Bluesky, and a few old forum accounts for years.

The site exists for one simple reason: I got tired of losing primogems, stellar jades, and event currency to codes that expired before I noticed them. What started as a personal Google Sheet in 2022 eventually grew into a full monitoring pipeline, a verification workflow, and the site you’re reading right now.

Editorial Expertise

Gaming background

I’ve been playing gacha and free-to-play games for over a decade — starting with Honkai Impact 3rd, through Genshin Impact’s 1.0 launch in 2020, and onward through Honkai: Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero, Wuthering Waves, and most of the Korean mobile titles (Cookie Run: Kingdom, Epic Seven, Seven Knights). I’ve tracked redeem codes for Genshin Impact specifically since late 2022, which is where most of my verification instincts come from: I know what a livestream code drop looks like, roughly how long HoYoverse codes stay valid, and which community accounts are actually reliable.

Language

Korean is my native language. I read and write English at a professional working level (daily use for more than ten years), and I can parse Japanese and Chinese game announcements well enough to verify codes — though for JA and ZH pages on this site, I rely on machine translation plus manual review of the code and reward strings, which are the parts that actually matter.

Data & tech

Outside of gaming, I’ve worked as a data analyst and a web developer. CouponNoona’s monitoring pipeline, normalizer, and static-site build are all things I wrote myself — partly because it’s fun, and partly because the data quality problem (deduplicating codes across many sources, filtering out spam “coupon” posts that are actually YouTube Premium referrals) needed real engineering, not just copy-paste.

Our Approach

Every code on this site goes through the same pipeline:

  1. 01
Source. Codes are verified against publishers’ official channels (HoYoLab, X/Twitter, YouTube livestreams, Discord) and a curated set of reputable community references. No anonymous tips, no screenshots without context.
  2. 02
Normalize. A deduplication and alias layer matches codes to the right game even when sources write the title differently (“원신” = “Genshin Impact” = “原神”). Suspected spam is filtered out automatically.
  3. 03
Status. Each code carries a first-seen timestamp, a last-verified timestamp, and either a known expiration date or an inferred status (Active, Expiring Soon, Likely Expired). Codes that haven’t been re-seen in their source for long enough get downgraded automatically.
  4. 04
User reports. If enough readers flag a code as expired or wrong, it’s hidden. That feedback loop is the last line of defense.

What we don’t do: we don’t invent codes, we don’t buy “leaked” codes, and we don’t run affiliate links disguised as coupons. If a code isn’t from a public, attributable source, it doesn’t go on the site.

Writing Standards

  • Game names, rewards, and code strings are always copied verbatim from the source — never paraphrased.
  • Guides and explainers are written in plain language, first person where appropriate, and reviewed before publishing.
  • We disclose clearly that CouponNoona is not affiliated with any publisher. Game logos are used only for identification.
  • Corrections are made as soon as a user report or our own verification catches an error. We don’t silently rewrite history.
